These Romans, they are mad!

'Deliriant Isti Romani' was the one of many catch-phrases of Goscinny & Uderzo's Asterix & Obelix comics dating back to the early 1960s. Put simply, it means 'These Romans, they are mad!'

The story was about a small French village in a time of Roman occupation. The villagers stoicly held out against the odds and comicly defied those in power, whose ways and means they simply did not understand. 

Applying common sense, good humour and a healthy dose of courage, the villagers questioned the might and the right of the Roman empire ('Deliriant Isti Romani!'). In doing so the village managed to retain their own sense of self, their integrity and their culture.

These guys questioned the world around them and stood up for what they believed was right. You’ve just got to admire something about the way these guys did business, despite operating under the weight of the centuries old, proven method of running an empire that was Rome.

So on this blog you’ll find all sorts of things that question the status quo - not because I want to change the world, but because I want to help you understand that the ‘best way to do something’ only exists because someone else challenged the old way in the first place.
